About My Services

What kinds of parties do you do? You name it! Anywhere there will be children present, or adults who want something fun and different! Children's Birthday Parties, Teenagers’ Birthday Parties, Adults' Birthday Parties, Family Parties/Picnics/Reunions, Holiday Parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s, Quinceañeras, Graduation/End of School Year Parties, Theme Parties, Scout Meetings, Anniversary Celebrations, Wedding Receptions, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers. top

Are You A Clown or a Character? I come in colorful, interesting costumes and hats, and with my designs painted on myself. I do not dress like a clown or act like one, nor am I a character. I do the Face Painting only, I do not do games with the children. However, I can come dressed as a Princess if you wish! Or even "Bob the Builder”, or as a US Soldier! Go to Costumes to view. top

Do you do anything other than Face Painting? Yes! I also offer Crystal Tattoos and Nail Art.  See Parties for information and prices. See Gallery for photos. top

Do you do any party planning, or take care of the rest of the party? No, but I can refer you to party planners who can take care of everything else for you.  top

Am I booking you personally for my Party, or will you be sending out another face painter who works for you? When you go through an agency, you take a risk as to whether they will send out someone good, or someone working their first party. I am the only person in my company that does the Face Painting. You are booking me personally, and you will get the same, beautiful, high quality Face Painting that you see in the pictures! top

Does your business have liability insurance? Yes. $2,000,000 Bodily Injury and Property Damage to Others. Occasionally, a park or a business will require a certificate from my insurance company listing them as an "Additional Insured”. I can provide this for you at no additional charge. top

Do you have references? Yes, I have an extensive reference list  of previous clients I can send you. top

About My Face Painting
Will Face Painting alone be enough Entertainment for my party?  Yes! Kids love face painting and they get very excited when they see my design board! Most parties I do have just me or me and a bounce house, and it is enough to keep the kids busy and happy. You can also have games or crafts, swimming (before the Face Painting!), or have a very low-maintenance party at a park with a playground.  top

What ages do you paint? I paint children ages 2 & up. However, I usually can only do a limited range of simple designs on 2 year olds (they can be a little squirmy & afraid of strangers & new experiences!). My designs look like they take a long time, but most only take between 3-6 minutes to paint. Most children 3 & up have no problem sitting still for me. However, I do not accept parties that have a lot of 2 & 3 year olds. In this instance, it would be more appropriate to hire someone who does the more quick and simple face painting. I can refer you to other Face Painters. top

Is your Face Painting just for Teenagers or Adults? Your work looks too intricate for my child to sit still for.  Absolutely not! I specialize in children’s parties! I often end up painting teenagers and adults at Children’s Parties and Events, but I am a Children’s Entertainer. While my designs look intricate, most of them only take between 3-6 minutes to paint. Most children 3 & up have no trouble sitting still for me because they see my designs and they WANT IT! top

Is your Face Painting just for older kids? Absolutely not! I do a lot of parties for 4 & 5 Year olds! Sometimes people mistakenly assume that this age group is too young to appreciate or sit still for my work. Not true! They love it! It makes them feel important and special to have such high quality Face Painting. And it gives me great joy to paint a perfect rose on a 3 or 4-year old girl who has never had her face painted before. That smile when she looks in the mirror! This is what I do it all for! top

Are your designs airbrushed with stencils or hand-painted? I hand-paint everything with paint brushes. I don't do airbrush Face Painting. top

Do you paint full-face designs? While I do offer a few eye masks and full-face designs (Spiderman, Bat Man, Camouflage, and Butterfly), I generally avoid that style of face painting because the type of paints that must be used tend to run and smear when the children sweat. Their faces often look messy by the end of the party, which can make the kids unhappy. The kids touch their faces and can get finger marks on walls or furnishings, which can make YOU unhappy (However, the paint is washable). None of these problems occur with the paints I use for cheek-art. If you prefer full-face designs, I can refer you to another Face Painter who specializes in them. top

Prices & Payment
What are your Prices? Parties: $150 for the 1st hour, $100 for each additional hour, 4 hour maximum. There will be a $30 surcharge if the party is at a hotel, Downtown Disney, or if I have to carry my equipment over more than 30 stair steps to get to the location. See Parties for a complete list of additional services and prices. top

How do you distinguish a Party from an Event? A Party has a fixed number of children, and we arrange just enough time for me to paint them all. An Event has a large, undetermined number of children. Anytime there will be more children/people than I can paint. However, some parties are so large that they fall into the event category and that rate applies. If you have any questions, please ask me. top

What are your Payment Policies? Parties: A deposit of $100 is required to reserve the day. I will hold the day for 1 week to give you a chance to get the deposit to me before I will start offering that day to other clients again. You can mail me a check for the deposit, or pay with a credit card. The balance is due in cash or you can pay with MasterCard or Visa. top

Do you ever give discounts or negotiate prices? No, my prices are not negotiable. Everyone pays the same rates. I make my prices public so you know you are being treated fairly.  top

Do you accept credit cards?  Yes! I take Master Card and Visa. If you wish to pay with American Express or Discover, we need to do it online through PayPal. top

Am I expected to tip you? Tips are appreciated and accepted, but never expected. top

Do you offer Gift Certificates?  Yes! You can purchase Gift Certificates for any amount. top

Booking Information
How far in advance do I need to book you?  I have no set policy. As long as I’m available, I accept last minute bookings with no extra charge. However, you need to book me as early as possible to ensure someone else doesn’t take your day. There is just no way to predict how early any particular day will get booked. It could be 2 months or 2 days in advance. I suggest booking your party at least 5-6 weeks in advance. top

What cities do you work in? Anywhere in Orange County. top

Do you work in parks? Yes, with no extra charge. Please make sure when you reserve your space, that you tell them you are having a Face Painter and check if they have any special requirements. County parks require that you pay for a special permit ahead of time to have a Face Painter. The permits start at $56, and I am already on their list of approved vendors. Some County parks also require that you reserve a special space for vendors. If you do not have the proper permit with you, the park rangers will not allow me to work in the park that day, and you will forfeit the deposit you paid me. top

Are there any kinds locations you cannot work at? I no longer accept jobs where I would have to set-up on a beach or sand. I cannot work anyplace where I would have to bring my equipment over a steep hill to get to the location. top

Do you work Sundays or Holidays? Yes, both! You can hire me for any day of the year. I  will even work on Christmas Day! top

How late at night will you work?  I do not accept nighttime Parties. My painting time must end no later than 7pm. top

How many hours do I need to book? Plan to book at least 1 hour for every 10 children/adults to be painted. ALL of the children, except one or two, will want to be painted and often a few of the adults will also ask. This has been my experience, party after party. My Face Painting is always a big hit and VERY popular! The only exception is boys 5 and under. It can go either way with boys that age and they have to see other little boys get painted first. Sometimes they get so busy playing in the bounce house, they never come out to get painted! Don't forget to include any siblings that will be at the party in your total head count.  top

Can I have you offer the kids a limited menu of only your quickest designs?  I specialize in offering beautiful, high-quality Face Painting with a large selection of design choices. I don't offer limited menus. If you would prefer to hire someone who does quick and simple Face Painting, please contact me, and I can refer you to someone. top

How far into the party should I have you begin? I like to start at the beginning of the party, because it gives us the most flexibility. If you decide to have me stay longer, the party will still be going on when I have finished my pre-arranged time. Even if your guests are a little late, I can start on the Birthday Child and their siblings. There is usually always a guest or two around. I won’t start my paid time until your guests arrive. top

Why don’t you accept more than one party a day? So I will not arrive to your party tired! Two parties can turn it into an exhausting 10-12 hour day. The second Client gets my leftover energy. You are paying good money for my services, and I feel an obligation to look out for your interests and to give you my best. This also enables me to be very flexible and give you incredible service. I can take an unpaid break if necessary to let all the kids participate in a game, sit down to eat, or watch another entertainer’s show. If your guests show up late, I will not start my paid time until they arrive. I can stay longer if more kids show up than you anticipated, or if you decide to have me paint the adults too. You don't have to know ahead of time exactly how many guests are coming! If you change the time or location of your party, it's not a problem. top

The Party
Do you paint just the children at parties, or do you also paint the adults? I paint adults all the time at parties! My Face Painting appeals to all ages. Some Clients have me paint everyone, some have me just paint the children. It just depends on how much you want to spend. The more people, the more time it will take. I always discuss this issue ahead of time with my Clients. top

How do you handle parties with both boys & girls? Most parties are a mix. I always put out all my design samples, whether it is all boys, all girls, or both. There are boys who ask for pink roses, and there are girls who ask for Tarantulas! I have plenty of  “girlie” designs, and plenty of designs boys love. I generally pick a costume to please the birthday child, or whatever my client wishes.  top

How do you organize the Face Painting at parties? I assign the kids numbers so they will play and enjoy the party, instead of standing in line. I will work with whatever activities you have, and I will take an unpaid break if necessary to let all the kids participate in an activity, eat, or watch another Entertainer’s show. top

What if it rains the day of my party? You can still have a great party! Just have a back up plan for an alternate indoor location if rain is predicted. I can always set up indoors instead. If it just looks like it might rain, but otherwise it is warm enough for the kids to be outside, I can still set up outdoors if you prefer. My shelter will protect the face painting area from a sprinkle or light rain. I can still come as a princess if it is raining, as long as your party has been moved indoors and is not in a park. top

Do I need to provide anything for you like a table and chairs, or shade?  You won’t have to do or provide a thing! I bring all my own equipment, including table, chairs, and a canopy. I will need access to an electrical hook-up for parties where I will be painting after dark. top

Miscellaneous
Do you teach Face Painting? No. There is no secret to Face Painting or a shortcut to learning. Face Painting is just painting, but on a unique and challenging surface. You have to learn how to paint first, and then you practice painting on people. It is not something I can teach in a few hours. top

How do you paint yourself? Who painted those designs on you? This is actually the single most frequent question I am asked! As part of my working costume, I paint my designs on my face, arms & chest. I want the kids to see how great they actually look. I do it myself in front of a large bathroom mirror, and no, it is not hard for me. I have had so much practice! It takes about the same amount of time as painting someone else, usually less than 5 minutes per flower. On some areas, it is easier than painting someone else. I’m sure it was challenging when I first started, but I have been doing it for so long, I don’t remember!  top
